Indonesia, by some accounts the third largest emitter of heat-trapping greenhouse gases behind China and the United States, is making very significant efforts to address climate change. "We want to tell the world that although the obligation is mostly on developed countries, Indonesia, being a victim of climate change, would like to do something to prevent it," said Agus Purnomo, the head of Indonesia's delegation.
The commitment of developing countries to cut greenhouse gas emissions have talked in Bangkok before COP15 in Copenhagen. A climate treaty that would replace the Kyoto Protocol, which expires in 2012, will be proposed and finalized at a Copenhagen Climate Forum.
There was a problem of negotiation between the poorer countries and the industrialized countries, because of industrialized countries refuse to commit to deep cuts in emissions or provide billions of dollars to help the poorer adapt to climate change.
"The draft agreement for Copenhagen calls for poor nations to cut their emissions from 15 to 30 percent by 2020 below what they would otherwise cut, as long as rich countries give them financing."as cited at COP15 websites, and, here are countries' offered to cut emissions:
