Saturday, 24 Oct 2009 22:33:01 UTC ,Tectonic earthquake magnitude 7.3 Richter Scale (SR) rocked Saumlaki, Maluku, exactly 209 km northwest of the Banda Sea region.
The position in the 6.161° south latitude and 130.346° east longitude or about 209 km northwest of Saumlaki The earthquake was at a depth of 165 km under the sea, according to BMKG (Climatology Meteorology and Geophysics). There are no reports of casualties .
U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) recorded a 7.0 magnitude Richter Scale (SR). Epicenter located at a depth of 138 km.(USGS map)
